Sunstate WaterSports 54th Peel Island Marathon Sailing Event

Established in 1904 the Cleveland Yacht Club provides direct access to the beautiful
waters of Moreton Bay and provides significant physical and mental health benefits
to our community of members, volunteers & visitors as well as developing and
honing their sailing and racing skills.
Being a not-for-profit organisation, the club is dependent on contributions from
members, sponsors, and grants. The Peel Island Marathon was first raced in 1969
as the Cleveland Catamaran Marathon and since then has been the main source
of fundraising ensuring that Cleveland Yacht Club remains viable and an icon within
the Redlands attracting visitors and tourism from far reaches.
Over the years the catch-cry of those entering this gruelling race has become,
“Will the Island beat me again this year?”
