FROM GOODHEW ELECTRICAL & SOLAR
Moving into 2026, the solar and battery market continues to surge with interest. There are a number of new and continuing Government programs currently in place, with this year promising to be a great time to add solar and battery storage for homeowners, investors and even renters.
Cheaper Home Batteries Program
One of the biggest developments in the industry of recent years is the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which offers around a 30% rebate on eligible battery systems. This scheme has driven unprecedented demand with forecasts suggesting the $2.3 billion budget may be used up by mid-2026 due to booming installations across Australia.
For local homeowners, this means now is a prime opportunity to act. Solar battery installations not only help households shift more of their rooftop solar into usable stored energy, they also provide backup power during outages, reduce peak-time grid consumption and significantly cut electricity bills.
From an installation perspective, we are experiencing sustained interest, with many customers upgrading their existing solar systems with battery storage or taking the opportunity to install more capacity while the rebate is available. If you’re thinking about battery storage or taking advantage of the current battery rebate, it’s important that you speak to our team to get the ball rolling.
Supercharged Solar for Renters
Another exciting initiative for our community is the new Supercharged Solar for Renters program launched by the Queensland Government last month. This program offers rebates of up to $3,500 per rental property for landlords who install solar PV systems.
The program is designed to help bring renewable energy savings to renting households, with projected average savings of around $700 per year on electricity bills for an estimated 6,500 renters.
For landlords in the Bayside and Redlands, this is a great opportunity to add value to your investment properties, reduce tenant energy costs, and differentiate your rental offering. If you would like more information on this program or assistance with your application, please visit our website or contact our office on (07) 3286 1422.
System Maintenance
With so many solar and battery systems being installed across our region, system performance and ongoing maintenance can’t be an afterthought. Summer is when solar production should be strongest, but without regular checks you risk avoidable issues such as reduced output, inverter faults, or unseen damage – especially following severe weather.
A good example of this need came in November’s hail storm, which impacted hundreds of properties on the Bayside. Many arrays were damaged, sometimes without obvious signs from the ground. Getting a professional solar inspection ensures that your system is operating safely and at peak performance, protecting your investment and keeping your energy savings on track.
As the Bayside’s multi award-winning solar and battery experts, we’ve been helping homes and businesses reduce their energy costs for over 18 years. Our team of licenced electricians deliver systems designed for performance, safety and long-term savings and provide maintenance and back-up support for the lifetime of your system.
Ready to improve your energy independence? From batteries to system upgrades and maintenance, Goodhew Electrical & Solar has you covered. Get in early while incentives remain strong – contact us today on (07) 3286 1422 or visit www.goodhewsolar.com.au.
