FROM ANNETTE ROSELLI DANCE ACADEMY

Amelia Townsend was born to dance. She attended Moreton Bay College and danced at her mother’s studio, Annette Roselli Dance Academy, and today, she’s enthralling audiences as a member of the Royal Ballet Company in London.

Selected by the Australian Ballet School for full-time training at only 12 years old – the youngest ever at that time – Amelia moved to Melbourne to train with the ABS in January 2012. Next came the Royal Ballet School in London, where she trained for three years. The hard work paid off, Amelia was offered a contract with the Royal Ballet Company, Covent Garden – her dream company and one of the best in the world.

Amelia is currently the only Australian female dancer in the company and has recently been promoted to First Artist. She has been selected to dance various soloist roles, and danced the main role in The Weathering and The Statement in November. In December she performed the role of the Autumn Fairy in Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella.
