The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly, supported very generously by Ampol, is busy preparing for the annual Family Fun Day to be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at George Clayton Park on the esplanade at Wynnum.

This event began in 2015 and has been held every year since. While the event was intended to raise awareness of the scourge of domestic and family violence, the aim was for families to have an enjoyable day out at little expense.

That year, many children enjoyed a tug-of-war with the police horses, climbing on the firefighting equipment, playing games, having their faces painted, and generally having fun. Their parents had the opportunity to talk with the police, ambulance, and firefighters in a supportive space. Other organisations also provided information about their services in a safe environment – an opportunity that many appreciated.

This year, the fun will continue, and everything at the park will be free (except the coffee van and soft drinks stall). There will be a free sausage sizzle, fresh fruit, and free activities to entertain the kids, including traditional games and races like sack races, egg-and-spoon races, and three-legged races, a jumping castle, a petting zoo, face painting, and a parachute to flap up and down with balls on it. A new activity is croquet – come along and have a go!

School bands will provide musical entertainment until lunchtime; some local vocalists will follow, and the day will be rounded out by the Brisbane Bayside Brass Band.

Local agencies and organisations such as Police, Fire, Ambulance, Rosies, Red Cross, Manly Kindy, Zonta, Sailability, and Bunnings will have stalls around the park perimeter. In addition, a range of service agencies will be present to provide domestic and family violence support and assistance, reinforcing the day’s basic theme, which is closely linked to the DV Prevention Month in May.

Everyone is welcome – come along and have fun!
