Harbourside Physie & Dance is a not-for-profit dance club in the Wynnum/Manly area that has been operating since 2018. Teaching from the Australian Physie & Dance Association (APDA) syllabus, classes focus on a combination of physie and modern dance covering multiple genres including lyrical, jazz, contemporary and cardio in one exciting class. APDA is unique in that classes cater for ages three to over 60. The club welcomes members of all levels of ability and aims to improve members’ fitness, strength and flexibility while embracing the movement of dance.
Since its opening, the club has built a reputable and successful history, achieving Champion titles at both State and National levels in team and individual competitions. Most recently, Harbourside had 47 members represent the club for national selections in October and November of 2023. Nineteen members were selected to compete at the National Finals in December at the International Convention Centre, Sydney. Of these, seven members were awarded a place, putting them in the top six of their respective age groups. Harbourside’s State 11-12 Year Champion Team were named the 11-12 Year Overall National Champions, competing against all other zones in Australia.
Harbourside aims to provide its members with a friendly, supportive, positive culture. Teachers encourage and inspire members to challenge themselves physically and mentally, to be the best versions of themselves, and to celebrate personal and club successes.
Enrolments for 2024 are now open, with classes commencing February 10. If you’re a beginner or want to return to a dance sport for recreation, APDA is a great option! Harbourside classes are especially beneficial for technical skills, core strength, balance, flexibility and fitness. They help build confidence, poise and posture while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship and life-long friendships.
