FROM VICTORIA POINT STATE HIGH SCHOOL

Although the stage lights have dimmed, the sense of community and collaboration remains strong following Victoria Point State High School’s Annual Night of Dance. More than 100 dancers from Years 7–12 performed across three sold-out shows. The evenings not only showcased engaging performances but also demonstrated what is possible when students, staff, and creatives work together with dedication and care.

Students from the VPSHS Dance Academy, Dance Troupe, and Warra Warra Dancers presented routines they developed in class and during before-and after-school rehearsals with their teachers, industry professionals, and community leaders. From contemporary and hip-hop to jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, and cultural dance, each performance told a story and left an impression. What audiences saw onstage represented only part of the collective effort.

In the lead-up to the event, the Creative Arts Faculty focused on strengthening students’ communication and collaboration skills alongside choreography, costuming, rehearsals, teamwork, and resilience. Their guidance supported students to grow not only as performers but as crea-tive individuals, leaders, and problem solvers. Throughout the year, dancers have also repre-sented the school at various competitions, returning with outstanding results.

The VPTv media crew, a team of student directors, videographers, photographers, editors, and content creators, documented the production from rehearsals to the final bow. Their professionalism and attention to detail ensured the event could be shared with families and the wider community.

The Annual Night of Dance is a testament to what can be achieved when a school community supports the arts. Dance students will perform again at the Academic Awards Ceremony on the main stage at Redlands Performing Arts Centre on 18 November. Applications for the 2026 Dance & Media Academy are now open. For further information, contact the school on 07 3820 5888 or email [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who performed, supported, filmed, created, or attended. Your involvement made the night a success. We look forward to next year’s event.
