About the event

Some of Australia’s best boardriding clubs will once again go head-to-head on the waves at North Stradbroke Island this October as the Gage Roads Straddie Invitational returns for a big weekend of surfing, friendly rivalry and classic island vibes.

More than 20 clubs from Queensland and northern New South Wales will descend on Main Beach at Point Lookout from October 16 to 18 for the event, which is renowned for being the world’s longest team surfing competition.

Now in its 43rd year, the event first began in 1983 as the Straddie Assault and has grown into a cornerstone of Australian surf culture. With plenty happening both in and out of the water, event organiser Hugo Prasser said the Gage Roads Straddie Invitational offers
the perfect mix of world-class surfing, entertainment and island atmosphere.
