About Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre
For over 40 years the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre has been a central hub for the community, hosting events, classes, and gatherings for young and old.
Concerts & Events
Community Concerts are held monthly in our large auditorium, which is also a popular hire with locals looking for an awesome party venue, thanks to the hall’s commercial kitchen.
Weddings
The beautiful Shire Clerk’s Cottage is very popular for weddings, with many photo opportunities in and around the restored landmark.
Markets
The Shire Clerk’s Cottage is also host to our bi-monthly Markets, famous for their devonshire teas! Stalls with local produce, freshly prepared food, locally created artworks, and other traditional fare spill out from rooms in the centre across the entire grounds.
Activities
WBLC run activities and events for members and the public in our various activities rooms. With an emphasis on participation, rather than observation, ensuring immense therapeutic value. Get Fit, leather craft, painting, table tennis – there’s so much to choose from.
Concerts, Exhibitions … Practically Anything!
Our centre is constantly abuzz with external hirers. Regular group bookings like Zumba classes sit alongside Cake Decorators and Ukulele Jammers! To show our versatility, we’re also home to the Wynnum Eisteddfod and the Annual Doll Show.
We even now go by the name “Bayside Music Hall” when Tom Oliver (founder of the Wynnum Fringe) brings prominent Australian musical acts to huge crowds.
Who We Are
We are staffed wholly by volunteers, and all money raised goes towards keeping the centre open. As one of Wynnum’s most prominent non-profit organisation, we are proud to serve our community, even though we don’t receive any operational funding from Federal, State or Local Government.
All our venues are available for hire at very competitive rates, be sure to plan ahead to get the date you want.
The centre’s reception is staffed by volunteers from Monday & Tuesday 8:30am-1pm; Wednesday & Friday 9am-12pm; and Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm – however activities and hire events occur at times throughout the week outside these hours.
