BY CATH COOK, PRECINCT COORDINATOR, MHVCOC
The Manly Harbour Village Chamber of Commerce (MHVCOC) hosted the first trader networking evening of the year on 18 February, on the iconic Boardwalk at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS).
More than 30 local business owners and professionals gathered for an evening of connection, conversation, and collaboration. Guests enjoyed a selection of delicious finger foods and drinks while watching the sun set over Manly Harbour, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere for fostering new opportunities.
The evening was expertly hosted by Danielle Forward, newly appointed Secretary of the MHVCOC, who kept the energy high and ensured attendees made the most of the networking opportunities. RQYS CEO Karen Baldwin welcomed guests and emphasised the significance of 2025 as the club prepares to celebrate its milestone 140th anniversary. Karen also provided an update on the exciting developments at RQYS, including a new outdoor bar, an expanded function room, a revamped members’ lounge, and the much-anticipated boardwalk renovation and extension.
The International Women’s Day Breakfast is just around the corner, and after last year’s incredible event, this year promises to be just as inspiring. Hosting the event is Caroline Starecky, founder of Leap Lab, who will lead an engaging discussion with an impressive panel of speakers. Deborah Bauer, founder of Urban Metal, producer for Cinemapodgrapher, co-founder of Film Tips Pro, and recipient of the inaugural Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Grant, will share her insights alongside Hayley Colbert, owner of Bayside Optometry for the past 12 years, whose passion for Indigenous eye health and the effects of diabetes on vision have driven her career. With such a dynamic lineup, this year’s breakfast is set to be truly inspiring.
With more events planned throughout 2025, MHVCOC invites local businesses to get involved and take advantage of opportunities to network, learn, and grow. Stay updated on upcoming events by visiting www.manlyharbourvillage.com.
