Name: Paul Bishop, Redland City Councillor, Division 10 (Birkdale North/Thorneside).
Suburb: Birkdale, by Waterloo Bay.
What’s your job/business? I have been an elected community representative since 2012.
Do you have any fun/interesting stories about your job? Well, apart from never having enough fairy dust on hand to fix all the issues, the most interesting part of my job comes from the diversity of people with passionate interests (and opinions) in our area. There are more stories than words permitted in this column!
What’s your favourite local dine-in and take-away? Between Birkdale and Wellington Point, we have a plethora of fab restaurants – Thai River and Welladee are among my faves.
What’s your best local activity? The coastal walk along Queens Esplanade and relaxing at Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside.
What is the last book you read? Make a Date with Nature: Introduction to Nature Journaling by Paula Peeters.
What’s the last TV show or movie you watched? The Aussie classic TV series Colin From Accounts, and Boy Swallows Universe.
Is there anything you’d like to see happen in the local area? I’d like to see people taking more time to unplug digitally and celebrate the many local walks, waterways, parks, creeks, coastline, reserves – the natural places and iconic species that we have in this unique part of the world.
Is there a local business/community group/club you’d like to give a shout-out to? Mooroondu Sport & Recreation Club volunteers who support football, netball and cricket. It’s also the 50th anniversary of Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club this year, and they have done so much to help clean up Tingalpa Creek!
