What’s your business? Mmm…well, jack of all trades, master of none! Primarily, I am a freelance actor. And like many freelance theatre professionals, I have a part-time customer service role as well. Having recently ‘retired’ from mentoring and supporting our young, up and coming performers on major touring musicals, I am enjoying being home and getting involved in our local community.
Do you have any fun/interesting stories about your job? Oh, so many! But most I couldn’t put in print! Travelling to wonderful places, in Australia, and Asia. Watching the creative process unfold in front of me. Seeing how audiences are transported from their everyday experiences and taken on a magical journey. I love interacting with people. Hearing their stories, sharing a laugh, or sometimes a tear. Every ‘job’ I have ever done, and there have been many, has been about people, their stories and about making a difference, no matter how small. To me, that’s the most important thing.
What’s your favourite local dine-in and take-away? I have a few! Mamma Mia at Raby Bay, Sea Fuel Seafood, and of course, the Lighthouse. That’s my go-to for catching up with friends.
Best local activity: Theatre! I have to say it! There is so much talent out there! Oh and the markets, and the nature walks, being on or near the water, the islands…the list goes on.
The last book you read: I am currently revisiting play scripts. I inherited my dad’s book collection – almost all theatre-related. I have added extensively to it, over the years. So many wonderful stories, waiting to be brought to life. However, I do also love a good mystery or historical fiction.
What was the last TV show or movie you watched? Only Murders In The Building. Love this series.
Is there anything you’d like to see happen in the local area? I would love to see even more local talent be given the chance to expand their skills, onstage and behind the scenes.
Is there a local business/community group/club you’d like to give a shout-out to? Theatre Redlands and Redland Museum. Such welcoming and all-inclusive entities providing fun, educational and hugely entertaining theatrical events and exhibitions.
