The commencement of The Moreton Bay Colleges’ Pre-Prep Precinct redevelopment was marked on Friday 8th July with a Turning of the Soil Ceremony held on site.
Members of The Moreton Bay College’s leadership team gathered to celebrate this special milestone in the history of the College, alongside representatives from architect firm, Bickerton Masters, and construction specialists inSite.
The development, located at the Moreton Bay College campus, incorporates the construction of two additional purpose built Pre-Prep learning spaces and refurbishment of the Prep learning spaces. These works are planned to coincide with a January 2023 opening date and will feature blended inside and outside learning environments, flexible learning spaces, a purpose-built Atelier (art studio) student centred kitchen and garden spaces. The development will also incorporate a fully intentional landscaped outdoor learning spaces capturing the history and features of the local community and bay environment. The landscape is being designed by early childhood landscape architect specialists Wearthy.
The Moreton Bay Colleges Pre-Prep Precinct development has been driven by an increase in demand for the Colleges’ rich inquiry-based learning programme, featuring integrated pre-literacy and pre-numeracy curriculum and access to specialist teachers across Music, PE, Visual Arts, Library and RE.
Head of Primary, Moreton Bay College, Mrs Rebecca Lennon, said “the extensions in our EL precinct has provided an opportunity to focus on the natural environment as inspiration for both indoor and outdoor spaces that invite our youngest learners to engage, inquire create and discover”.
Pre-Prep is available to girls and boys turning four before 30 June and is a stepping stone to Prep at Moreton Bay Boys’ College, or Moreton Bay College.
