Wynnum West State School recognises that transitioning to school is a time of huge change, presenting new and exciting opportunities for children to experience.
Transition to school for Prep children is a year-long process and has started already! For a few years, we have been working collaboratively with many local Early Childhood Education Centres in order to make the transition to school experience a seamless and exciting one for our Prep children.
Starting last term and continuing throughout Term 3, we are hosting several ‘school experiences’ for Kindy children. Experiences include music, STEM, physical education and playing in a Prep classroom.
Recently, Kindy children from LEAD Childcare Centre at Tingalpa came to ‘big’ school where they were treated to a music experience that involved singing, dancing and playing instruments. Before leaving, they were lucky enough to have a quick play in the Prep playground. These experiences help build strong, positive and trusting relationships with the children before they start Prep the following year.
