The 2022 season for the Manly Combined Clubs yacht racing season began on Sunday 13 February, with 32 boats enjoying steady wind conditions out on the bay. The season runs through to November.

There are 11 races in total with five divisions of boats including Performance Divisions 1 and 2, Cruising, Trailer Sailer and Multihull.

Participants come from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Wynnum Manly Sailing Club, Trailer Sailer Club of QLD, MBTBC, Multihull Yacht Club of QLD, Qld Cruising Yacht Club, Moreton Bay Boat Club and Newport Sailing Club.

The aim is to get more boats out enjoying racing on Moreton Bay and to unite in the love of boating and make it fun for everyone. In 2021 we had an average of 41 boats sailing at each race and this included two races where we had over 60 boats racing.

To put that into a “people perspective”, we had an average of 256 people crewing on the boats, and in one race there was a massive total of 434 people out enjoying yacht racing on Moreton Bay.

Every race has a pre-briefing, and results are presented after every race at Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club. Catching up with other participants to relive the action and celebrate over a drink and a sausage is a great part of the day.

In 2021 we ran a photo competition and there were many great entries. The winning shot is pictured here, check out the whale!
