Mangrove Housing Christmas Drive

Every year, Mangrove Housing help to relieve the financial burden on their tenants through their free Tenant Christmas Event. Mangrove Housing collect food, Christmas decorations and toys to hand out to families who are already doing it tough. Last year, they handed out 250 hampers.

Let’s see if we can beat that in 2022!

This year, I’ve offered up my office as a drop-off point to help Mangrove Housing with their Tenant Christmas Event. Please bring donations of non-perishable foods and clean, good condition toys to my office between Monday and Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Waste Smart Brisbane Awards

The WasteSMART Brisbane Awards were created to recognise and celebrate the achievements of residents and groups who work together for a clean and green city. There are nine award categories and this year, two local organisations made the shortlist.

I was asked to nominate someone for the Councillor’s Choice award and I’m proud to announce that my pick, Repair Café Brisbane Bayside is a finalist. There is one prize of $350 available for the winner of this category.

Lota State School is also a finalist in the School Award category for their environmental programs and moves towards zero waste. There are two prizes of $350 available for the winners of this category.

The winners of the Waste Smart Awards will be announced in a ceremony at City Hall on 17 November.
