COUNCILLOR FOR WYNNUM MANLY

Wynnum Manly Men’s Shed: Leading the Way in Men’s Health Awareness

The Wynnum Manly Men’s Shed deserves immense gratitude for extending an invitation to join them for their Mental Health Awareness Breakfast. This community organisation has undeniably become a formidable force in addressing men’s health and overall well-being.

Over the past 12 years, since its inception, the local Men’s Shed has provided invaluable physical and emotional support to countless men. Their commitment to fostering better health for the community is undeniable.

To drive meaningful change in men’s health, we must confront the uncomfortable topics that often remain in the shadows. This illumination is essential to reshape prevailing statistics and perceptions.

Under the able leadership of David Westlake and the entire team, the Men’s Shed envisions a promising future. The dedication they show in improving the lives of men in our community is a testament to the power of collective action. We eagerly anticipate the progress and impact they will continue to make in the days ahead.

Nappy Collective: A Local Call for Donations to Support Vulnerable Families

Community, Simplicity, Integrity, Respect, and Ethics are the Nappy Collective’s core values. This dedicated organisation has a clear vision: to provide every child in the country with access to clean nappies, ensuring their happiness and health.

Local support for this cause has recently grown with a new drop-off point in my office. The initiative is now calling upon the community to contribute by donating nappies. These donations will play a crucial role in assisting vulnerable families in the area who need support.

By coming together and contributing to this cause, the community can make a real difference in the lives of those who require assistance the most. It’s a simple gesture with a significant impact, demonstrating the power of unity and compassion.

Community Victory: Brisbane City Council Extends Esplanade Speed Limit

In a victory for the community, the collective efforts of our locals have yielded results. After years of relentless campaigning and advocacy, the Brisbane City Council has finally listened. The 40km/h speed limit along the Esplanade has been extended, with clear signage to ensure compliance.

This marks a significant step towards enhancing road safety, thanks to the persistent efforts of the community. While celebrating this win, it’s important to remember that the fight to improve the safety of our roads is not over.

As your voice in the council, my commitment lies in the continual enhancement of our roadways and intersections. Above all else, the safety and well-being of our community remain my top priority.
