Business Spotlight: Hajime
Hajime, the al fresco Japanese restaurant that opened on Bay Terrace late last year, dishes up a wide selection of favourites like sushi, teriyaki, poke bowls, and bento boxes. They have a dine-in and takeaway menu.
I have eaten here a few times and always find
the food fresh and tasty, and the staff very friendly. I like the bento boxes, which I regard as a smorgasboard.
They’ve had good success in their first few months of business, which is only appropriate considering Hajime is the Japanese word for ‘beginning’.
Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs
Pack a hamper and bring your picnic blankets for a free screening of Red Dog at Cox Park, Lota, on 18 February.
Red Dog tells the true story of a red kelpie and his travels throughout the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Cox Park is across the street from Lota State School and is bound by Richard Street, Avadne Road, Daniel Street, Bethania Street and Corinth Road.

Bayside Park
The shelters and picnic facilities near the climbing net at Bayside Park, Manly, will undergo refurbishments over the next couple of months.
Brisbane City Council will pressure clean and paint shelters, seating, and picnic facilities; replace seats in the smaller shelter; and make repairs to downpipes.
The project commenced Monday, 30 January and is expected to be completed by 10 March, weather permitting.
Works will be carried out over two stages, with each stage to take 2 -3 weeks, weather permitting. The shelters and picnic facilities will be closed for the duration of works.
Free Community Immunisations
Brisbane City Council’s community immunisation clinics offer free vaccinations to residents aged 6 and over.
In Wynnum, vaccinations are available at Level 2, Wynnum Community Centre, Florence Street, every week on Wednesdays (excluding public holidays).
