George Clayton Park Upgrade
The new and improved George Clayton Park re-opened last month. I was excited to host the family of George Clayton, the former Councillor for whom the park was named, as well as students and teachers from Darling Point Special School.
The DPSS community involvement in the consultation and design of the park is clear. It’s not just the accessible walkways and wheelchair height features that make it the best disability park in the area – it’s the textured surfaces that are fun to use with mobility aids, or the sensory panels that cover children in calming coloured light.
Thanks go to the principal Charmaine Driver and parents, teachers and students of Darling Point.
Gigs on Greene
I’m very proud to announce that one of my first accomplishments as the Councillor for Wynnum Manly Ward was to give Gigs on Greene the Greene light.
This free, monthly live music event is the latest musical venture for Wynnum Fringe founder Tom Oliver.
Gigs on Greene will support local businesses and attract visitors from outside of the area with free music and food trucks in beautiful Greene Park on Fox Street, Wynnum.
I’ll see you down there on the second Sunday of the month.
Community Group Forum
Wynnum Manly, I don’t think you know just how many committed and passionate community groups you have in the area.
I thought I did but in the past two months, I’ve met with so many groups that I didn’t know existed. I’d love to bring all these groups together to share information and spotlight their various services.
