FROM THE ART MY WORD ORGANISERS
Set aside November 3 to 7 in your calendars and plan your visit to Macleay Island for one or more Art My Word experiences.
Friday night (November 3) is a ticketed cocktail evening and pre-launch of the Art My Word exhibition, based on (random) books. From 6.30pm there will be cocktails, finger food, entertainment, music, a wine auction and lots of art. Tickets are on sale now at www.trybooking.com; search for Art My Word Cocktail Evening.
Come along on Saturday November 4 at 10.00am for a 10.30am start for a community day showcasing the Art My Word art exhibition, the Art My Photo exhibition, children’s art, and visual arts awards ceremony. Light food and drinks will be available to purchase.
Sunday is the Art My Story Day, celebrating storytellers with author talks, written awards, book launch and writing workshop beginning at 10.00am for a 10.30am start.
On Monday, the island’s writers invite the community to partake in a writing circuit session. Times and booking information will soon be announced on Art My Word’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
On Tuesday, the gallery will be open from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
Visual artists, there is still time to be part of the art challenge and to participate in Art My Word. Come into Macleay Island Community Library, Russell Terrace, opposite the gelato shop, to register ($20) and collect your random book to inspire your art.
