How inspirational were our Aussie Paralympians at Tokyo 2020? 80 medals – 21 Gold, 29 Silver and 30 Bronze. The Bayside’s own Rachael Watson was one of these Gold medal winners, not to mention also smashing two Paralympic records!
Rachael claimed gold and a Paralympic record in the 50m freestyle swimming an incredible 39.36. She also swam up a class in the 100m Freestyle S5, breaking the S4 class record with a time of 1:35.27.
I had the opportunity to catch up with Rachael just before she jetted off to Tokyo.
Rachael said, “After training incredibly hard over the last five years, I am thrilled the games are going ahead this year. I can’t wait for the opportunity to be with the team in Tokyo and for all my hard work to pay off.”
Well Rachael, your hard work has certainly paid off! Bonner is so proud.
