The Bonner Update - The Community Leader and Real Estate New and Views

Supporting our youths

Providing support services and opportunities for at-risk youths to change their lives for the better is essential for a safe and prosperous community. Earlier this year, I was proud to have delivered $927,221 through the former Coalition Government’s Safer Communities program to the Bayside Adolescent Boarding Inc (BABI). This funding will go directly into a new community youth space and allow BABI to expand their services to provide early intervention programs for at-risk youths. BABI is one of the leading youth and family services in the Bayside region. Their programs and support services empower young people to participate in active, healthy lifestyles, helping to build a stronger community. If you know a youth at-risk of homelessness, or who needs extra support in the Bayside area, I encourage you to reach out to BABI on (07) 3393 4176.

A Royal celebration of trees!

I am proud to announce the Bayside recipients of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee tree planting grant program. To celebrate and honour the 70-year legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Australian Government provided up to $100,000 per electorate for tree planting projects. Congratulations to OZFish, the Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C) and Iona College whose community tree planting projects have all been successful.  What better way to celebrate the incredible service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II than by planting trees and creating more green spaces for our local community!

Table Tennis Win for Wynnum

They say to be a good table tennis player, you need to hit every ball with purpose. Whilst I still need to practice my table tennis skills, I can say with certainty the members at Wynnum Table Tennis are a force to be reckoned with. It was great to visit the club and talk with committee members and see how the former Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Program grant will benefit players. I am proud to have delivered federal funding through this program to help the club upgrade its infrastructure to provide safer facilities for players. Supporting our local community groups and ensuring they have the resources and infrastructure they need to thrive is a priority of mine. I will continue to fight for more federal funding to ensure families have quality recreational facilities and opportunities within our Bayside area.
