ROSS VASTA MP FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BONNER

Rebuilding Carmichael Park

It’s exciting to see works have started to rebuild, expand and future proof Carmichael Park after the devastating impacts of the 2022 floods. As part of my local flood recovery plan and working alongside Wynnum Wolves FC President Rabieh Krayem I was able to secure $4 million of federal government funding for the Carmichael Park masterplan. I’m glad to see the current Australian Government has honoured this investment into our local sporting community. Funding will be used to create state of the art sporting facilities, as well as a cultural and community hub for all local families to enjoy. This rebuild will allow both the Wynnum Wolves and Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club the chance to host high-quality state and national championships. It will also deliver the opportunity to connect our local community to international counterparts for the upcoming 2032 Olympics. I will keep you updated as works progress!

1st Annual Fun-Fu Festival

WOW! What a day! The First Annual Fun-Fu Festival was a massive success, celebrating the year of the Rabbit and highlighting our local Chinese community and businesses. From Lion Dancing, Kung Fu demonstrations, dumpling making and calligraphy, it was fantastic to see so many Bayside families enjoying this event. Plans are already in work to make next year’s Fun-Fu Festival bigger and better. Thank you to special guests, the Honourable Peter Dutton MP, Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner, Cameron Costello, Cr Lisa Atwood, as well as Joan Pease MP and Cr Peter Cumming for attending. Thank you also to, Bartons Motor Group and the Community Leader for supporting this event. Last but certainly not least, thank you the Bayside Language School for hosting the Fun-Fu Festival. I look forward to supporting it again next year and to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.
