The Bonner Update - The Community Leader and Real Estate New and Views

ROSS VASTA MP FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BONNER

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!

Last month we celebrated National Volunteer Week! This year’s theme was ‘Something for Everyone’… and boy do we have some outstanding organisations here in Bonner!

The Bayside wouldn’t be the same without the wonderful volunteer organisations dedicated to improving our community. From our P&Cs and coaches to those dedicated to the environment and veteran’s affairs, I applaud and thank all those who make Bonner a better place to live!

I have been hard at work, advocating for volunteer groups, and delivering funding for many of our local organisations. Congratulations to all those recognised by the volunteer grant program, including the Wynnum Vikings, Wynnum State School P&C, QLD Services Heritage Band, OzFish, Manly Bowls Club, Wynnum Manly War Veterans and Associates Social Bowls Club, and the Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club!

BUDGET OUTLOOK FOR BONNER WITH SENATOR JANE HUME

There is nothing more important than the concerns and lived experiences of hard-working Australians. That’s why I recently hosted a discussion with local business owners on the cost of living, in partnership with the Shadow Minister for Finance and the Public Service, Senator Jane Hume.

We discussed Labor’s disappointing budget and new ute tax, as well as the Coalition’s nuclear energy proposal and plan to re-awaken the Australian dream of owning a home. Baysiders need long-term cost of living relief, not a band-aid solution. The cost of doing business is sadly leaving hard-working locals feeling the pinch. Thank you to all those who shared their experiences, Senator Hume, and Councillors Lisa Atwood and Alex Givney for joining the discussion.

ELANORA PARK SHINING BRIGHT

Local sporting clubs are key to the connectedness and flourishing of our Bayside community.

After many years of planning and development, the Wynnum District Rugby Union and Netball clubs have finally turned on the lights at Elanora Park! The installation of lighting poles and LED fixtures has allowed players to safely train at night at the rugby and netball grounds. I was able to partner with the Bugs to deliver the necessary funds, through the Community Development Grants Program, so it was wonderful to see this incredible project completed!
