Finally, the fighting was over. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 – the guns fell silent. This year will mark 105 years since end of World War I. An incredibly important day in our history, it is a time we come together to pause, reflect and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live free.
For those who are looking to attend Remembrance Day events on the Bayside, I have made a list for you below:
- Wynnum RSL: The service is scheduled to commence at 10.45am so you are asked to be seated by 10.30am.
- Bayside NASHOs: 7am start at Darling Point.
- Manly Lota RSL: The service is scheduled to start at 10:45am at Richard Russel Park.

Seniors Expo Recap
WOW – what a turnout! Thank you to everyone who travelled to joined me at the 2023 Bonner Seniors’ Expo in Mt Gravatt! With a great range of lucky door prizes, a wide variety of vendors and speakers, it was certainly a fun day out for all. I want to say thank you also to all the stall holders and guest speakers, without you I would not be able to run the Bonner Seniors’ Expo each and every year.
Finally, a massive shout-out to Picardy Fry Lawyers for their continuous support and sponsorship.
I am already planning next year’s event and look forward to seeing you there!
New Equipment for ROSIES Wynnum-Manly
The volunteers at Rosies Wynnum-Manly do an incredible job supporting some of the most vulnerable in our community. That is why I am happy to say they recently received Federal Funding through the Volunteer Grant Program to help continue supporting those who need it most. I recently caught up with Kirsten and the team to hear feedback from those doing it tough. Unfortunately, the cost-of-living crisis has seen a raise of the working poor. People who have good jobs, who work hard, but who can’t make ends meet due to the increased cost of everyday items.
If you know of anyone who might need an extra helping hand through this time, please let them know that Rosies is here to help.
Below are outreach locations in Wynnum Manly.
- Every Monday, 9am – 11am at St Peter’s Anglican Church, 77 Charlotte Street, Wynnum.
- Every Tuesday, 9am – 12pm at Wynnum Community Place, 55 Berrima Street, Wynnum.
- Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, 7pm – 9pm: Corner of Tingal Rd & Corner of Charlotte St, Wynnum.
