ROSS VASTA MP FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BONNER
Shop Local!
Small businesses are an important part of our local community, economy and identity on the Bayside… we have a great variety of coffee shops, retailers, and service providers!
I recently stopped by Edith Street Espresso for breakfast. Thank you, Oliver and Anthony, for my vanilla milkshake and toasted sandwich – what a delicious way to start the day! In just one year they have created a reputation for service and quality. Well done to the entire team at Edith Street Espresso!
Next time you’re in need of a cuppa or a birthday gift for a loved one, why not intentionally shop local? In addition to stimulating local growth, small businesses are often more environmentally friendly and community-minded. As a past small business owner myself, I understand the vision and determination it takes to keep operations such as these running. It’s no easy task! Thank you to all those who operate small businesses… remember to shop local!
Thank you Wynnum Police!
I recently presented the Wynnum Police Service Station with a new Australian flag. Thank you to the team at the station, who are dedicated to selflessly serving our local community.
A special thank you to Sergeant Mark, who recently had his final bagpipe send-off. Mark has made a lasting impact on our community, and it has been a pleasure getting to know him over the past few years.
Every day our ‘men and women in blue’ show extreme courage, commitment and compassion, as they uphold justice in our community. It is a noble sacrifice to potentially put yourself in harm’s way, for the benefit of the community.
Next time you see one of our Police, remember to give them a wave and friendly thank you!
Update from Canberra…
I spent the first week of July in Canberra… brrrr! Despite the cold, my focus was on standing up for Bonner locals in our Parliament. Whether you’re in university, starting a family, or running a small business – life isn’t easy at the moment.
It’s sad to see the prices of basic needs, such as electricity, food, housing and rent are all up. Disappointingly, every single week since Labor took office, an average of 600 households have gone into hardship.
Every day I speak with locals who struggling, under these pressures, to make ends meet. We desperately need a government that can rein in inflation. We need to cut back red tape and provide lower, simpler and fairer taxes. I want to see Bonner locals thriving, which is why I will continue to advocate for our community in Parliament. It was a busy fortnight down South, but I am happy to be back with my family, and enjoying warmer temperatures. As always, if you need assistance please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office.
P.S. We had a visit from Bailey the therapy dog at Parliament House, he is paw-sitively adorable!
