FROM THE WYNNUM MANLY JAZZ FESTIVAL ORGANISERS

If you’re searching for something fun and free to do this Father’s Day, pack a rug and a picnic and head down to the Wynnum foreshore for the annual Jazz Festival.

This year’s festival will feature a variety of talented jazz musicians performing live, including one of Australia’s top jazz bands, Galapagos Duck. Also on stage will be the Andrews Sisters Tribute Band, Dezzie D and the StingRays, Royal Australian Navy Band, Brisbane, The Queensland Show Band, and the Empire Swing team.

This free event is suitable for the whole family. Food stalls will be serving up delicious meals, or if you prefer to BYO, pack a picnic (no glass is allowed), and remember to bring chairs.

The 2025 festival is the first to be organised by the Queensland Services Heritage Band Association (QSHBA), which is carrying on the legacy of Gloria “Lady Jazz” Davey. Gloria ran the festival for many years before her passing in late 2024.

Brisbane City Council is the main sponsor of the event, providing a generous donation to ensure the festival’s continued success. The festival is still in need of financial support, and thanks to the support of QSHBA, donations of $2.00 or more are tax-deductible. Donations can be made directly to QSHBA via their bank account (BSB: 064 133, Account number: 1038 8640). Be sure to put your name and email in the reference to get your tax-deductible receipt.

The Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival is on Sunday, 7 September 2025 from 11:00am, at George Clayton Park – known locally as Bandstand Park – on the corner of Gordon Parade and the Esplanade, Manly.
