Following several sold-out performances, The Crooners’ cabaret sensation, Swinging & Spinning, returns to captivate Brisbane audiences once again for one night only on Thursday 12 June 2025, at Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC).
A wheeling version of The Rat Pack, The Crooners features three of Australia’s most charismatic performers, including Brisbane locals Tim ‘Mac’ McCallum and Tony ‘Dee’ Doevendans, and newest member Mick ‘Micky G’ Sattin from Nowra, New South Wales. These talented artists will whisk audiences away on a nostalgic musical journey, wheeling the boards, chair to chair, hat to hat with exuberant showmanship and velvety smooth voices.
Lead vocalist, director and writer, Tim McCallum, says he is looking forward to bringing this new version of the production to the RPAC stage.
“It is our delight to share our love of these classic tunes with the Brisbane audience again, and what better way to celebrate them than with the debut of our third Crooner,” says McCallum.
Accompanied by the Rivercity Ballroom Dancers, a live jazz quartet and the introduction of Mick ‘Micky G’ Sattin gives the show a true Rat Pack feel. The show features an Auslan-interpreting barman embedded in the show, with half the cast on stage being artists with disability. Toe tapping, heart melting, and genuinely inclusive, Swinging & Spinning proves that access and artistry fit together in perfect harmony.
“Music and performance are for everyone, and we want to show that talent knows no boundaries,” McCallum says.
“While Tony, Mick and I are all united by our love for swing, jazz and The Rat Pack, it is also our pleasure to join together to highlight the breadth of talent that can be found among Australians living with a disability, and advocate for theatre as an accessible medium for all.”
Co-director and producer, Paul Adams, echoes McCallum’s sentiment. “I am thrilled to be working with these guys. They are three of Australia’s most talented performers, and it is exciting to collaborate with them to present this unforgettable production.
“We all believe in the power of theatre as a catalyst for experiences that inspire. We want the audience to leave with a lasting impression of joy, feeling like they have been entertained and uplifted,” says Adams.
