FROM THE VOLUNTEERS AT THE WATERLOO BAY LEISURE CENTRE
After a longer than usual break, the Shire Clerk’s Cottage Market will resume on Saturday, April 12 at 8:00am.
Mercifully, we did not have a market scheduled for March as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred decided to visit, resulting in significant damage to our auditorium at Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre. However, this should not impact our Easter market.
We are pleased to welcome some new stallholders this year as some of our long-term supporters have retired, so there will be some interesting new offerings. You’ll be amazed at the talent on show from market stallholders!
The Easter market will have over 70 market stalls, including 40 inside the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre, so please make sure you don’t forget to have a look. There will also be a wide and delicious array of hot and cold treats available in the canteen.
But first, to get to the canteen, you must pass our own cake stall, which is the first stall you will come to, loaded with homemade cakes, biscuits, slices (and possibly other delights).
We will also have an exciting Easter raffle with tickets priced at three for $5, located in the foyer just after you pass the cake stall.
Need more motivation to come along? The cottage grounds are delightful on a fine day. Stroll around the stalls, grab a coffee from our on-site vendor and a sausage sizzle or bacon and egg sandwich from our barbecue – we think they’re the best on the bayside!
Make your way up the steps of our beautiful, historic Shire Clerk’s Cottage. Built in 1890, the cottage is lovingly maintained by the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre, and proceeds from the market go towards its maintenance. The cottage is filled with lovely antique furniture and furnishings donated mainly by the community.
Round out your morning with a delicious Devonshire Tea on the cottage verandah served by the fantastic Boomerang Bag ladies. Scones are baked on-site on the morning of the market.
The Shire Clerk’s Cottage Easter Market will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 8:00am to 1:00pm at the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre, 241 Tingal Road, Wynnum.
