Mercury Theatre Wynnum is thrilled to present a production of A Doll’s House, with six performances of the epic play running from November 15 to 30.

Forget Netflix for a night! You know the couple with the perfect house, the perfect career, the perfect life? It’s all a lie. Nora Helmer has a secret that could destroy everything – her marriage, her reputation, her future. This isn’t your grandmother’s classic; it’s a visceral, high-stakes examination of gender, money, and the cost of true freedom in a world obsessed with appearances.

Henrik Ibsen’s play, A Doll’s House, shocked audiences in 1879. It boldly challenged 19th-century social norms.

Nora thinks she has it all – wit, charm, and the perfect marriage. Torvald, her smooth but controlling husband, believes he’s in charge, while Nora playfully keeps the household humming. But when an old secret comes knocking, things unravel fast. Enter Krogstad, desperate to save his own name, and Kristine, Nora’s grounded old friend who sees straight through the glitter. With sharp humour, simmering tension, and a finale that still shocks, this fresh take on Ibsen’s classic asks: what happens when you stop playing the part others wrote for you?

Directed by the brilliant Sophie Parker, this cast brings serious vibes – expect fresh talent, big energy, and performances that’ll have everyone talking. Get ready for a version of A Doll’s House that totally stands out and guarantees a highlight for your year!
