Block out your calendars! The award-winning spark on Queensland’s cultural calendar is set to light up Brisbane’s bayside with colour, creativity and community spirit from July 9 to 20!
Showcasing a diverse mix of comedy, cabaret, circus, live music, family shows and more, Wynnum Fringe is now accepting expressions of interest from artists, sponsors, venues and volunteers.
Wynnum Fringe has employed over 2,000 artists since it began as a COVID recovery effort in 2020, welcomed more patrons than a packed night at Suncorp Stadium, won the prestigious Gold Matilda Award for contributions to Queensland’s creative sector, and now returns for its sixth year.
“It’s an exciting time to be in Brisbane,” said Tom Oliver, founder/ CEO/ Artistic Director. “With seven years until the Games, it’s time for festivals like ours to celebrate artists and audiences gathering in a big way. Wynnum Fringe is a perfect example of the creative and corporate sectors working together to propel our cultural identity into the future. I’m thrilled we are back, and I strongly urge artists of all genres to apply!”
Wynnum Fringe is accepting artist applications until April 17 at 5pm before announcing its lineup in May. The festival is also opening its doors to sponsors and philanthropists who see the value in big creative events in Brisbane.
“I believe this should be an ongoing part of the cultural growth of this area,” says Margaret Vote, principal of Raine & Horne Wynnum Manly and founding sponsor of Wynnum Fringe.
Wynnum Fringe 2025 will also introduce ‘Fringe of the Fringe’ – a new initiative that invites local venues such as bars, cafés, galleries and creative spaces to become official festival partners and host performances and events. This also means that venues outside of Wynnum are welcome to be involved in the event!
“This is about bringing even more of our community into the festival experience,” said Oliver. “We want to give as many opportunities as possible to artists and small businesses around the bayside.”
Whether you’re on stage, behind the scenes, or providing a unique venue, the festival offers a chance to contribute to one of Queensland’s most exciting creative movements.
Artist applications close on Thursday, April 17 at 5pm. Apply now at wynnumfringe.com.
