Healthcare Access Expanding Across Bonner

Access to cheaper healthcare continues to strengthen across Bonner, with new national data confirming there are now 13 fully bulk-billed GP clinics operating in the electorate. This is more than double the number prior to Labor’s investment in Medicare, meaning more local families can see a doctor without worrying about out-of-pocket costs. You can find your closest bulk billing GP by heading to www.health.gov.au/bulk-billing.

Bulk billing access is further reinforced by two Medicare Urgent Care Clinics serving the community. The Carina-Carindale and Capalaba clinics provide fully bulk-billed urgent but not life-threatening conditions. These clinics are delivering more affordable healthcare close to home, easing pressure on emergency departments and ensuring you can access timely treatment when you need it most.

Open seven days a week, the clinics treat:

  • Minor infections
  • Minor fractures, sprains and sports injuries
  • Neck and back pain
  • Urinary tract infections and STIs
  • Minor cuts, insect bites and rashes
  • Eye and ear problems
  • Respiratory illness
  • Gastroenteritis
  • Mild burns

The Carina-Carindale clinic operates from 9am to 7pm at 805 Old Cleveland Road, Carina.
The Capalaba clinic operates from 8am to 8pm at 2/8 Dollery Road, Capalaba.

Recognising Bonner’s Community Leaders

This year’s Australia Day Honours List recognised several outstanding local residents for their service across research, education, media, youth welfare and community leadership.

  • Emeritus Professor Roderick Drew AM – For significant service to horticulture research and agricultural development
  • Dr Rodney Straw AM For significant service to veterinary surgical oncology and tertiary education
  • Mr Kenneth Brown OAM For service to media and the community
  • Aunty Aileen (Merle) Dippel OAM For service to the Indigenous community of Queensland
  • Dr Bronwyn Herbert OAM For service to youth social welfare

Their contributions reflect the depth of service and leadership within our electorate, and our community is grateful for their service.

I recently had the opportunity to speak in Parliament to recognise their achievements and the outstanding contribution they have made to our community.
