New Youth Space at BABI!
The Bayside Youth & Family Service (BABI) have officially opened their new youth space! I am proud to have delivered over $927,000 through the former Coalition Government’s Safer Community Program for this new youth space, which will help support at-risk youths. I would also like to say a massive congratulations to the team who turned this idea into a reality. BABI plays a vital role in our community, and the supports and opportunities they provide help vulnerable youth rebuild their lives for the better. This new youth space will enable BABI to provide more resources, training programs, and longer operating hours to help support Bayside youths. EOI for Volunteer Grants NoW Open
I am excited to announce that EOI are now open for the 2022 Volunteer Grants. Volunteers are the backbone of our community, and it is no small thing to say that we would be lost without them. I am encouraging all community groups to apply for grants between $1000 and $5000 to support the important work of our volunteers. These grants can be used to help offset costs incurred by volunteers, such as: purchasing small equipment, reimbursement for volunteer fuel, transport, or training costs. Bonner Seniors’ Expo 2022
The Bonner Seniros’ Expo is back for 2022! After having the cancel the last few years due to COVID-19, it is exciting to have the Bonner Seniors’ Expo back up and running. I am working to make sure this year is bigger and better than ever. There will be sample bags, lucky door prizes, guest speakers from key industry areas and much more. This is a free event for seniors, and I encourage you all to come along. Whether it is to ask questions about a service or to join a new social group, this expo will have something for you.

Whilst not on the Bayside, I wanted to share with you an incredible company called Jigsaw who help provide training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this great business, located in Mt Gravatt, to hear about their progress and how their employees are helping global organisations, such as Allianz Insurance. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns and natural disasters, the Allianz need help processing a high volume of claims to clear backlogs, the team at Jigsaw came to the rescue! In February of 2022, the team at Jigsaw were able to code a total of 1,458 claims for property damage- talk about an impressive result.
