Funding transforms Bayside PCYC
Bayside PCYC is looking better than ever! I recently visited the PCYC based in Lota to check out what $558,000 in Federal funding has delivered for upgrades of their facilities.
With a growing membership base, the clubs’ facilities were in urgent need of repair and this funding has enabled the upgrade of its gym kitchen, electrical, front entrance, fans and roofing to give our community an unbeatable experience. For 49 years, Bayside PCYC has been making an invaluable difference to people of all ages in our area and now they’ve transformed the space so it can meet needs of our community for years to come.
Reducing emissions, the Australian way
The Morrison Government has unveiled our plan for Australia to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We’re taking real action and doing this the Australian way – through technology, not taxes and choices, not mandates.
Tackling climate change and protecting the environment is important to our entire community. It is also a priority of mine. That is why I welcome the news of this plan. It’s a responsible and practical plan which will help Australia be a leader in low emissions technologies, while preserving existing industries.

Keeping up the momentum to deliver more mental health services on the Bayside
As part of my ongoing plan to deliver more mental health services on the Bayside I reconvened the Bayside Mental Health Working Group. The over 20 local mental health and community providers in attendance heard from Brisbane South PHN Senior HR Business Partner Melissa Binks and Head of Be Someone for Someone (Initiative of Feros Care) Joanne Winwood who presented social prescribing as an early intervention and prevention approach for youth mental health; a plan tailored to the Bayside.
Social connections are the greatest protection against depression and are proven to reduce suicidal behaviour. I look forward to continuing to work with Brisbane South PHN, Feros and the working group on this plan for our community.
Better our community by entering Bonner’s Biggest Survey!
The Bonner electorate is a great place to live, work and raise a family. I have always stood to protect our lifestyle and will continue to do so as we secure our recovery and build for the future.
To keep delivering for our community, I want to hear about what’s important to you and what you believe is a need in our area. That’s why I am inviting everyone, no matter if you’re a resident, community group or a local business, to take part in my ‘Biggest Survey’. There’s also a pair of new Apple AirPods up for grabs for one lucky participating constituent! This survey will close Monday 6 December 2021, so get in quick.
