Remembrance Day on the Bayside
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1919, the Commonwealth fell silent to commemorate the first Remembrance Day.
We observed a minute of silence on this incredibly important day to commemorate our fallen soldiers, and the ultimate sacrifice they made to protect and honour their country. If it was not for their courage, bravery and selflessness, we would not have been afforded the freedoms, peace and opportunities we enjoy today.
This year marked the 105th anniversary of the first Armistice Day commemoration. Thank you to the Wynnum RSL Sub-Branch, Manly-Lota RSL Sub-Branch and the Bayside NASHOS who organised such fitting tributes to our service men and women across the Bayside.
Lest we forget.
Lota Mobile Office
Hearing directly from locals is the best way for me to represent our community’s needs in Canberra, which is why I love mobile offices! From local shopping centres to small businesses, listening to our Bonner community is incredibly important.
At my most recent mobile office, I heard locals’ concerns on many issues such as housing and cost of living, especially as we head into the holiday season. Australians deserve to feel secure and certain in their housing situation. It has been disappointing to see a lack of forward-thinking and funding for critical enabling infrastructure from the current government.
The holiday season is already a very expensive time for families, but compounded with Labor’s cost of living crisis, many will be struggling. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by my recent mobile offices; stay tuned via my social media and email updates for the next one!
Congratulations to Bonner students
Congratulations to our students across Bonner on finishing the 2024 school year! I hope you have all had a wonderful year and get some rest over the Summer break.
A special mention to the year 12 students who have also undergone their external exams and completed their high school studies. I am sure this year was both incredibly challenging and exciting, but you have all persevered.
You should all be very proud of your achievements in this final year of school, and I hope you stay safe during your end-of-year celebrations. Although I look back on my high school days fondly, remember the best is still to come… Congratulations graduates!
