Passing of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II

Along with many across Queensland and in the Lytton community, I was deeply saddened to hear the recent news of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen has been a constant through many of our lives.  She upheld the same concern and care for the people of the Commonwealth since her coronation in 1953.

As a child, I remember my family’s excitement at my Mum and Dad’s invitation to a Garden Party with the Queen and Prince Phillip when they visited Brisbane.

Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered for her extraordinary life of tireless public service, her devotion, hard work, compassion, and the resolve she brought to the role every day – an inspiration to us all.

Her Majesty the Queen will be dearly missed.

Path to Treaty

I was proud to commemorate a very important day in Queensland’s history with the release of the Treaty Advancement Committees report.

The Path to Treaty is a shared journey between the Queensland Government, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people – a key reform with the ultimate goal of negotiating a treaty, or treaties.

The Path to Treaty is for the benefit of all Queenslanders and provides an opportunity to cultivate a new relationship with First Nations peoples and share in more than 65,000 years of rich history and culture.

With the release of the Queensland Government Response to the Treaty Advancement Committee Report, we have achieved a significant milestone.

The next phase of the Path to Treaty, will be strengthened by co-designing structures with Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples that will ensure the success of achieving a treaty or treaties for Queensland.

Community Grants

Round 115 of the successful Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) has opened with more than $10 million available for not-for-profit groups.

I encourage groups associated with domestic and family violence services, and multicultural communities to apply.

This round closes on 31 October 2022 it is important that my government continues to support our local not-for-profit groups in providing essential services, activities, and economic opportunities for the Lytton community.

Community Sports Report

As a proud supporter of bayside sporting clubs, I undertook a survey of community sports in Lytton earlier this year. I received a huge response to this survey and I thank every Lytton local who responded and gave their feedback.

The report is now available on my website, along with a response to the report findings from the Hon. Stirling Hinchliffe MP, Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics Sport and Engagement.
