Wynnum Bowls Club Receive Funding to Take Climate Action

Wynnum Bowls Club received an amazing $31,304 to purchase and install a solar system and inverter for their club, which will significantly reduce their carbon emissions and energy costst

Our Bayside community groups do such incredible work on the ground and it’s great to see funding go towards projects that can help them reduce their costs as well as their emissions.

Bayside Events

I recently held two events that were very well-attended by Baysiders – the Bayside Grants Forum and the E-Scam Community Forum. The Bayside Grants Forum was an excellent opportunity for our local community groups and charities to gain an insight into the grants available to them, while the E-Scam Community Forum provided a timely reminder for us all to safeguard our personal information.

I would like to thank Baysiders who attended these recent events. If you were unable to attend or would like more information on grants or E-Scams, please visit my website.

Free Flu Vaccines for Queenslanders

From 22 July to 31 August 2023, influenza (flu) vaccinations will be provided free of charge to help combat the significant increase in influenza cases across the state.

This initiative aims to safeguard our community’s health and reduce the risk of flu infections. Influenza is a highly contagious infection that can make many people sick and, in severe cases, lead to fatalities.

Hospitalisations due to influenza are especially concerning for children aged 6 months to 5 years and adults over 65 years, as well as those at higher risk.

As we approach the peak of the flu season (June – September), it’s essential to act promptly. Baysiders can get vaccinated at their local General Practitioner (GP), community health clinic, or pharmacy.

I urge Baysiders to share this vital announcement with family, friends, and colleagues. The more people who get vaccinated, the stronger our community’s defence against the flu is.
