STATE MEMBER FOR LYTTON

Lytton Christmas Tree
I’ve gone with something a little different for my Christmas tree this year, and the talented gentlemen at the Wynnum and Districts Men’s Shed have helped make my vision come to life. The tree will be unveiled in my window on 1 December and will go to St Pete’s to be displayed from 6 – 16 December.

Christmas Food Drive
I’m calling on Baysiders to dig deep again for my Christmas Food Drive. Our recipient this year is Silky Oaks Children’s Haven, a wonderful local not-for-profit that has helped children and disadvantaged people for more than 80 years.

My office will be accepting donations of non-perishable food and hygiene items from now until 10 December.

Queensland’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan to Unite Families
Well done Queensland – we’ve reached the 70% vaccination mark! Further restrictions will be lifted as further quotas are met.

When 80% of the eligible Queensland population is vaccinated, quarantine requirements will be lifted for fully vaccinated domestic travellers, and fully vaccinated international travellers may be able to home quarantine.

When 90% of eligible Queenslanders are vaccinated, there will be no entry requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals.

We’re so close Baysiders! Vaccinations are more important than ever. Visit the Queensland Health website to find a location near you – https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/protect-yourself-others/covid-19-vaccine/book – or contact my office on 3915 1100 or [email protected].

Banter – Bayside Business of the Month
Congratulations Banter Coffee House, our November business of the Month. A bit of a hidden gem in Manly West, Banter has already amassed a following thanks to their friendly service and delicious food – including all day Eggs Benedict.

Congratulations to All Graduates
I extend congratulations and best wishes to all the Year 12’s finishing school and the Year 6’s finishing Primary School in 2021. I encourage you all to take pride in how far you’ve come, have faith in how far you can go and, most importantly, enjoy the journey!

With school holidays coming up, I would also like to remind Baysiders to keep an eye on the local schools and to call School Watch on 13 17 88 if you see anything suspicious.

Keep it Local This Christmas
I challenge all Baysiders to stick to the local postcodes as much as possible when Christmas shopping this year.

Between Wynnum, Manly and surrounds, we are incredibly lucky to have a wealth of small, locally owned businesses at our back door. Where else can you find takeaway stores next to fine dining restaurants, theatres and a cinema, every beauty service imaginable, and clothing and gifts to suit every budget? So take the Wynnum Manly Christmas challenge and see how much of your Christmas shopping you can do without leaving the area.
