Vibrant Side of Life is the title of the October exhibition at the Old Schoolhouse Gallery.
Members Jingle Bird and Kate Stimson are joined by their guests, Tina Horton and Andrea Horton, who are embracing the vibrant side of life through their own creative mediums.
Jingle Bird says that one painting style, one medium, and only one type of scene are not her.
She takes inspiration from everyday life, travel and anything that takes her fancy, using a medium that suits what she is going to paint. This could be oil, soft pastel, coloured pencil, watercolour, and even a little bit of acrylic. Painting makes her happy. She loves to share her work and hopefully make other people happy or at least get them thinking. The next step for her will be to teach what she has learnt over the years.
Kate Stimson believes creativity has never been a choice – it’s simply who she is. Her work radiates with colour, energy, and an unmistakable love for the world around her. “My artistic practice is a celebration of life,” she explains, “a love letter to the magical wonders around us and to the creative spirit that resides within us all.” That celebration comes alive through her signature style: bold, vibrant colours woven together in thoughtful harmony, then layered with intricate patterns and textures that invite the viewer to slow down and truly feel each piece.
Guest silversmiths, sisters Tina and Andrea Horton of Forge 45, present a collection alive with colour, light and the beauty of the Australian landscape. From their Redlands studio, they blend shimmering silver, richly layered enamels and hand-cut Australian gemstones to create wearable art with a distinctly individual spirit. Each piece is handcrafted using traditional skills alongside contemporary techniques. Both embrace the beautiful unpredictability of working with heat, glass, metal and stone, which makes every creation truly one of a kind. Refined yet playful, their jewellery is designed to capture a little spark of life: something to wear, love and treasure for years to come.
Don’t miss this exciting exhibition, which runs from October 1 to November 1 at The Old SchoolHouse Gallery, located at 124/126 Shore St North, Cleveland. There will be an afternoon tea for the official opening of the exhibition from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, October 3. The gallery is open from 9:30am to 4:30pm Thursday to Sunday, and on public holidays.
