Ramsay Health Care’s new $16 million day hospital in Cleveland has made a strong debut, performing 15 procedures on its first day and expanding access to specialist surgical care for the growing Redlands community.
The Ramsay Surgical Centre Cleveland, which opened on 17 August, offers endoscopy, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, urology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and gynaecology. The purpose built facility allows Redlands residents to receive high quality surgical care locally, reducing travel time and improving convenience for patients and families.
Chief Executive Officer Justin Greenwell said the early response had reinforced the need for the new centre.
“We’ve had an incredibly positive start, with so many happy patients already receiving their care at the new hospital,” Mr Greenwell said. “The response from specialists and patients has been fantastic and reinforces why Ramsay invested in this new facility – there is strong demand for high quality surgical care here in the Redlands.”
More than 25 specialists who also practise at Greenslopes Private Hospital are consulting and operating at the Cleveland site, broadening access to experienced clinicians across the bayside.
The hospital features three operating theatres, with capacity for a fourth, and includes onsite pathology, radiology and a general practice clinic. It has also introduced AI enabled endoscopy technology to the Redlands through the Olympus EVIS X1 system, which assists specialists in detecting lesions during procedures. Next generation Mindray anaesthesia machines provide advanced monitoring during surgery.
Mr Greenwell said the centre had been designed to grow alongside the community.
“We’re only at the beginning. As more specialists begin operating here and demand continues to build, we have the capacity to expand the services available to patients across the Redlands and Brisbane bayside.”
