FROM WYNNUM MANLY LEAGUES CLUB

At Wynnum Manly Leagues Club, we are passionate about supporting our local community and fostering the growth of rugby league. Following our sponsorship of the Wynnum Manly Juniors for $220,000 for this year 2023, we are thrilled to extend our support to the talented ladies of Wynnum Manly Seagulls teams. With an additional sponsorship of $66,000, we aim to ensure the continued success of the women in sport program.

We proudly celebrate the achievements of the women’s teams, who have made an incredible impact in a short span of time. In just two years, there are now over 60 women involved in the program, with the Premiership team of The Seagulls Women’s program soaring to new heights this year, ultimately earning a spot in the Grand Final, showcasing their determination and skill.

The Seagulls Women’s teams will return to their home ground on Kougari Oval to showcase their remarkable talents for the 2024 season. The women’s program is set to expand with the addition of another team. This will bring the total number of teams to six, that play under the Seagulls banner at Kougari Oval.

Brett Mooney, Chairman of Wynnum Manly Leagues Club, on behalf of the WMLC Board, is proud to provide continuous support to rugby league and the Seagulls. The club’s commitment to the Seagulls this year will be a total sponsorship of $750,000 in cash, with an additional $320,000 in in-kind support. This extensive support encompasses vital aspects such as power, water, and maintenance, including the upkeep of the cherished home of the Seagulls, Kougari Oval – a place where we will continue to watch the Seagull’s exceptional players develop. This investment demonstrates our dedication to nurturing the growth and success of the sport and its talented players.

Recognising the significance of empowering our community beyond the realm of rugby league, we place great emphasis on our annual Community Grants Program. This program, in operation since 2016, recently concluded on July 15. We are delighted to share that the outcomes of successful applicants will be communicated by August 10. Our program’s objective is to offer valuable resources and assistance to local organisations, proving direct grants to those organisations to help make our local community a better place to live, work and play.

We are also excited to announce our sponsorship of the Tri 21 Series. It will take place on the first weekend in December at Action Indoor Sports Wynnum. The Tri 21 series is about community, inclusion and supporting people with Down syndrome. With a mix of social and competitive grades the event attracts participants with a range of sporting ability, while raising money to support young children with Down syndrome, who are either not eligible or waiting on NDIS funding.

None of these achievements and contributions would be possible without the unwavering support of our valued members and the community. We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have stood alongside us, enabling us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of aspiring athletes and the wider community. Together, we will continue to create a legacy of success, of empowerment, and importantly, camaraderie through rugby league.

Join us as we embark on this incredible journey, shaping the future of our local sporting landscape.
