After a strong start to the 2021 season, the Wynnum Manly Seagulls are poised to dive into the Queensland Rugby League Finals Series kicking off this month. Two regular season competition rounds remain in September, before the Finals Series begins later this month!

The Seagulls have set an impressive standard on the field across the QRL’s major competitions this year. Through the first 14 rounds of Intrust Super Cup, the club sat in second place after beginning the season with nine straight wins. The Hastings Deering Colts have also led their competition for the majority of the season, and are in prime position to compete in their own Finals series.

A number of Seagulls have made their debut in the NRL this year off the back of terrific performances and development at the club. TC Robati and Selwyn Cobbo have already earned contract extensions with the Broncos and continue to impress, while Junior Pauga signed with the Wests Tigers earlier in the year. The evolution of talent at the Seagulls means many local athletes have also made their debuts across junior grades of the club. The Seagulls are proud to continue to offer an elite sporting pathway for the local community.

For those who haven’t been to a Seagulls game, the day is full of fun for the whole family. Beyond the elite footy on the field, the crowd is kept entertained with face painting, music, a jumping castle and an exciting social atmosphere!

Thousands of fans from across the Bayside have flocked to BMD Kougari Oval to support the Gulls this year, including a massive crowd for the first game back at home in more than two years. Major renovations to the ground and the installation of a new video scoreboard mean fans have never been closer to the action.

Covid challenges have caused some minor disruptions to the season schedule but the footy is now back on track and the finals are fast approaching. The club looks forward to hopefully hosting a home finals game and welcoming footy fans and families back to the ground in September! Keep an eye on wynnumseagulls.com.au or follow the club on Facebook and Instagram, to stay up to date with game times, ticket info and the finals schedule.
