Iona has been preparing to host the Confraternity Carnival, the largest Schools Rugby League carnival in Australia, for two-and-a-half years, and to say that we are ready and excited would be a significant understatement.

We are embracing the opportunity to welcome 50 schools from across Queensland to the bayside community of which we are very proud. Originally planned for June 2020, the Carnival was postponed due to the COVID-19. Thus the rebranding of this year’s Carnival to Confraternity 2020 in ’21.

All games will be played at Iona across our six fields from Monday 28 June to Friday 2 July. For the first time ever there will be a female tournament and we are honoured to be the first host to welcome female competitors to Confraternity.

It is only through the donation of people’s time, services and money that such an event can take place. In the Bayside we are proud that this comes to fruition as a result of the sense of community that exists here. We would like to acknowledge the community spirit and all of our local sponsors who have come on board with goods and services or donations of cash to support the running of this year’s event.

A special thank you to the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club as the major sponsor for Iona College and as the venue for the CQUniversity Confraternity Carnival QISSRL and Iona Dinner. Our appreciation goes to the Central Queensland University, QISSRL and the support of governments at all levels who have made a contribution to the preparations of the 2021 event.

We thank everyone who will play a role in helping to make the carnival a success.
