The Wynnum Manly Juniors’ Rugby League season is in full swing and despite the recent weather, and all 42 teams have kicked off their seasons with some fantastic games of local footy.

Wynnum Manly’s Under 10s team, who played at home on Mother’s Day against a previously unbeaten Carina Tigers team, showcased some tough defence and excellent attacking support play. Most importantly, the team members posed with their mums before the game and thanked them for their continued support.

The BRL A grade team has won two out of three games, most recently enjoying a strong win over arch-rivals Carina with a full-time score of 28-18 at Kitchener Park in front of an energetic home crowd.

Our Open Women’s team joined the Brisbane competition last year and won the Grand Final before deciding to challenge themselves even more this year by entering the Holcim Cup.

The women’s team has chalked up two wins from two and would love your support at upcoming home games. The next home game is on June 11 against Runaway Bay, where there will be a Big Freeze fundraising event for MND, which includes an ice bucket challenge. This kicks off at 12.30pm and promises to be a lot of fun amid some great local footy at Kitchener Park. This is a family-friendly event and everyone is most welcome!
