FROM THE WYNNUM RUGBY UNION CLUB

The Bugs have come out of the gates in season 2022 with our first colts team in four years joining the Tuckey Cup in Brisbane on Thursday nights. The colts sit fourth on the ladder, and players are looking down the barrel of a finals berth in August.

Our Reserve Grade team is sitting second on the table and could go all the way in 2022. The A-Grade team is sitting outside the top four, but it’s halfway through the season, so there’s still plenty of time to fight back into the contention for the finals.

The Bugs had three senior players selected to represent Sunshine Coast Stingrays in June. Sunshine Coast won the tournament with wins against the Gold Coast and Darling Downs teams. Well done to Jason Roger (Prop), Kyle Hammane (Backrow) and Jacob Wright (Centre).

Wynnum Bugs is committed to being an inclusive club and we are working hard to establish a sustainable women’s/girl’s rugby program. If you are interested in playing, coaching, managing, or sponsoring the girls’/womens’ teams, contact Dan Power, senior vice president, at [email protected] for further information.

Wynnum Rugby Union is always looking for more players across all divisions, and all playing levels are welcome, so get in touch today!
