Wynnum Golf Club (WGC) is home to Australia’s richest one-day Pro-Am on the PGA Pro-Am National Series, the Bartons/BMD Pro-Am, held at WGC since the event’s inception in 1979.

The Bartons/BMD Pro-Am is held in November, following the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club.

As part of the Bartons/BMD Pro-Am series, a Seniors Pro-Am Legends event is held in the lead-up months and, from 2023, is known as the Paul King Memorial Legends Pro-Am. The Legends event is named after the late Paul King PGA, the Club Professional at WGC for over 40 years, and Bartons and BMD remain the major event sponsors.

In 2022 – the centenary of Wynnum Golf Club – the Bartons/BMD Pro-Am provided a
$100,000 prize purse, which was jointly won by James Macklin and Daniel Gale.

In 2023, the inaugural Paul King Memorial Legends Pro-Am was won by Tim Elliot (WA) and, in the centenary year prior, by Andre Stolz.

High-profile golfers and legends such as Peter Senior, Peter McWhinney, Anthony Bonhomme, Andre Stoltz, Terry Price, Randall Vines and John Senden regularly return to play one or both Pro-Am events alongside friends and fellow great players including Peter Lonard, Paul Gow and many more.
