STATE MEMBER FOR REDLANDS
Whitegood appliance rebates & new community battery
Queenslanders will be able to save hundreds when purchasing energy efficient appliances to help bring down electricity bills. Around 40,000 Queenslanders will be able to claim the new rebate which is up to $1,000 for eligible households from next month. This comes on top of electricity bill rebates of $550 and $1072 for senior and concession card holders. As part of the Palaszczuk Government’s push to ease cost of living pressures for Queenslanders and bust bills, the new $22 million Smart Energy Savers program offers rebates for a range of eligible energy efficient appliances. And in more good news our super solar soaker has arrived in the Redlands! Publicly owned Energex is building a big battery in Redlands to put more power in the pockets of local households. The battery soaks up solar generated during the day to be used at night when it’s needed most.To find out about the full range of savings on the table for Queenslanders visit: www.queenslandsavers.qld.gov.au
Satellite hospital officially open
Our new Redlands Satellite Hospital at Meissner Street, Redland Bay has officially opened! It includes a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic which will be open to patients seven days a week from 8am until 10pm. Appointments with Queensland Health clinicians will be available in consult and treatment rooms for services including neurology, cardiology, older persons care, wound care, musculoskeletal, allied health, and mental health services. The Redlands Satellite Hospital will provide a range of convenient specialist services including chemotherapy and kidney dialysis treatment. This new facility means locals will not need to travel far from home to access the healthcare they need – and this is something I am really proud of.
Russell Island house fires
The tragic Russell Island House Fires left our community heart broken and grappling to come to terms with such devastating loss. Our love, prayers and thoughts are with all the families. With this tragedy has come the most amazing rallying of our community support. I have never seen such kindness, caring, support and assistance come to the fore from our community. There are so many people, community groups, organisations and businesses to express deepest gratitude to for everything they have done from across the Redlands and further afar. Our island frontline personnel were world class in their response, our Rural Fire Fighters, our Police Officers and our Paramedics were, put simply, incredible. Deep gratitude to our Bay Island Community Services, Russell Island RSL and the Russell Island Bowls Club. Our island businesses, Carol and the Russell Island Taxi, the IGA, our cafes, and our real estate agents thank you for all your support. There are so many individuals that have provided kindness, support, food, goods and donations that it is impossible to list everyone. I am so proud to represent a community that has epitomised the spirit of kindness and giving – thank you all so very much.
