Joan Pease’s Community Update - The Community Leader and Real Estate New and Views

STATE MEMBER FOR LYTTON

WORKING WITH KARA COOK

Congratulations to Kara Cook, our new Federal Member for Bonner. Kara has the skills, intellect, drive and vision for the job. I’ve no doubt she’ll make a highly effective MP for our community.

Kara has been busy meeting Baysiders and local community organisations. There’s plenty to do to make our Bayside an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to working with Kara to improve local services and infrastructure.

SHARE YOUR ‘REAL-TIME’ HEALTH STORIES

The Queensland Government said real-time hospital data would help you make informed decisions about your healthcare, but since it was launched, misleading timeframes and hidden terms and conditions have caused mass confusion and frustration.

It means Queenslanders are waiting longer than the website says to receive critical healthcare. And Queensland nurses, doctors and hospital staff are being assaulted and verbally abused because of failed real-time health data. That’s why I want to hear your stories. WYNNUM COMMUNITY PLACE TO RE-OPEN 9 JUNE

Good news for our most vulnerable Baysiders. After numerous letters from me to the Queensland Premier (and multiple speeches in Parliament), Wynnum Community Place is finally set to re-open its doors on Monday, 9 June.

The facility was due to open in January this year but has remained closed due to promised funding to Wynnum Community Place not being available – until now! The prolonged delay created uncertainty for our community. What is certain is that without your community pressure, we would not have got this positive outcome.

Thanks to all local service providers for stepping up these past six months to help support our most vulnerable Baysiders.

HONOURING OUR BEST BAYSIDE VOLUNTEERS

During National Volunteer Week, I launched our Best Of The Bayside Awards!

We have same amazing volunteers in our community and they deserve to be recognised.

There’s four categories: youth, adult, senior, and organisation. Nominations close on June 9. Finalists and winners will be notified after this date.  Awards will be presented on June 20.

WYNNUM FRINGE FESTIVAL JULY 2 – JULY 20

This year’s Wynnum Fringe Festival will occur from 2 July to 20 July this year.

This year’s jam-packed festival is set to be its biggest and best yet. To find out more, including shows and ticketing, go to wynnumfringe.com.

The Festival has gone from strength to strength. Wynnum Fringe brings vibrancy, colour and economic stimulus to our local small businesses. That’s a good thing for our community.

COMMUNITY GROUP FOCUS: ROTARY CLUB OF WYNNUM MANLY

The Rotary Club of Wynnum Manly continues to make a remarkable impact in our local and global communities through dedicated service projects, youth programs, and charitable initiatives.

Their club members are dedicated people who share a passion for both community service and friendship. Becoming a Rotarian connects you with a diverse group of professionals who share your drive to give back.

From supporting local schools and food drives to international aid efforts, their work embodies the true spirit of service above self. Their recent community clean-up, wheelchair challenge (pictured), and youth leadership events have drawn praise for their positive, hands-on approach. They’ve also organised a free Family Fun Day at George Clayton Park in Wynnum on Sunday 8 June from 10am to 2pm. If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a dynamic, friendly group, get involved today! For more, go to: https://rcwm.org
