Name: Hi, I am Miss HoneyBun.
Suburb: I’m from Wynnum.
How long have you lived at Wynnum? For five months. My humans have been in the ’hood for seven years.
What is your favourite local walk? Mum and Nanna have been introducing me to a different part of the esplanade every time we walk, so I’m yet to gather all my bearings (Sandyboy, their 15-year-old retriever, knew the place like the back of his paw). I will say I’m incredibly lucky to have landed here and for this magnificent place to be an extension of my backyard, full of fresh sea air, plentiful smells and all the birds I hope to play with one day!
What’s your most treasured toy? Umm…the kitchen chairs?! I must have been a furniture designer in a past life. That said, we’re all designers here, so I’m giving them a much-needed facelift and 20-year revamp, adding some elevated seaside charm to the chair stumps! Beyond that, I love my yellow bouncy ball, which I love playing soccer with (go the Tillies!); Mum only has to find it approximately 50 times a day.
What’s your favourite food? Fruit salad (apples, strawberries and bananas) – yummy, yummy! I love chewing on carrots too, and ‘oh-em-gee’, I discovered hot chips by the bay the other day, and I’ll be back! I’m also super keen to try a doggo-lato.
What’s your worst habit: Witching Hour!
What is your favourite local hangout? I’ve had my first taste of Tide on the Jetty (yummy), and I am oh-so-keen to try the Manly Boathouse and Coopers, and to become a hip-laneway doggo at Cambridge Lane! If there’s a sea view and a feast, count me in!
Who is your best doggo friend? Lucky, my stuffy labrador littermate. Mumma-bear keeps doing monthly progress photoshoots with us both, and surprise, surprise, I keep growing taller! I’m so looking forward to hanging out with Miss Maggie of Manly and learning from the best. My humans met Miss Maggie at a Golden Retriever Club meet-up when Miss Maggie was just a sweet little pup and fell in love with her beautiful feminine energy. As luck would have it, they ran into each other again as locals on the esplanade and have become fur-iends ever since! I also went to my first golden meet-up recently, which was a sea of gold in all our different golden shades, and I slept for more than three hours afterwards! I’m also looking forward to meeting Astrid, as I hear she’s the ‘mummabear’ figure of Manly.
Are there any funny or embarrassing stories you’d like to share? Being a true Gen-Millennial fur-kiddo, I, of course, chose my name!
What do people love most about you? My super curious, honey-sweet nature and the fact that my name is a nod towards Miss Honey from Matilda, every ’90s kids’ favourite movie! I also give gentle, soothing hugs.
