What is your name? G’day, my name is Bailey (I’m very Aussie).
Where do you live? I live in Birkdale.
How long have you lived there? All of my 12 years.
What is your favourite local walk? Being a working dog, I enjoy a variety of different walks – Birkdale, Wellington Point, around the neighbourhood. Being in the more senior ‘working’ demographic, my nose loves the extra variety, and it loves a good workout, even if my legs are a bit slower these days.
What is your favourite toy? Any ball! It’s in my nature. Those silly soft toys just don’t stand a chance. Where’s the ball? Did you say ball?
What is your favourite food? My family love me immensely, well, what’s not to love? They feed me the good stuff especially for seniors, but I do love a piece of toast when I get the opportunity.
What is your worst habit? Did I mention how much I’m loved? Even my trail of hair shedding throughout the house doesn’t upset the family. Unconditional love goes both ways.
Where do you like to hang out? I love spending time with my family. I’m a bit of a ‘girl about town’ as sometimes Dad takes me to work. There are always extra cuddles from his work friends. Hanging out in the neighbourhood on my walks, there is always something new to sniff and the neighbours also give me lots of love.
Who is your best doggo friend? My two besties were Koolies, Jada and Koda, but sadly they have gone to doggie heaven. My cousin Millie likes to spend her holidays with me now. Although she is little, she is lots of fun, and doesn’t have that weird thing called ‘short dog syndrome’.
Are there any funny stories you’d like to share? Sometimes the Ibis come to visit me in the backyard and I try to organise them, but they don’t round up like sheep and just fly away. No fun at all! The water dragons on the other side of the fence are on to me though, as they just stare right back! We have lots of staring competitions; I usually lose. I’m also a very helpful girl, especially at Christmas and birthdays, as I help to unwrap the gifts. I even help with the recycling by tearing the paper into small pieces.
What do people love most about you? My family and friends love my sweet, loving nature. I have inherited a ‘sixth sense’ as I know what my family needs before they do. It is a pretty special gift and I use this gift to look after my family the best way I can.
Bailey’s favourite charity is the Wildlife Preservation Society Qld, and a $50
donation has been made on her behalf by The Community Leader.
