Wynnum Manly juniors love their footy!
FROM WYNNUM MANLY JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE
Get ready for an exciting week of junior footy in Wynnum Manly during the upcoming school holidays. From June 25 to July 7, the highly anticipated annual U35kg and U43kg Rugby League Zone 5 Carnival will be held at Wynnum. Families and over 350 enthusiastic kids from various regions of central Queensland will gather to showcase their rugby league skills.
The U35kg category features talented nine and 10-year-olds, while the U43kg category includes skilled 11 and 12-year-olds. These prestigious carnivals have been a tradition for an impressive 54 and 57 years, respectively. Each year, different towns take turns hosting the event. This year, Wynnum is fortunate to be the chosen location for both carnivals.
Participating teams in this year’s event include Balonne-Barwon, Cunnamulla, Charleville, Central Downs, Highfields, Macintyre, Roma and District, South Burnett, Western Downs, and, of course, the host team Wynnum. These young athletes have undergone trials and earned the opportunity to represent their respective towns. The carnival is a highlight on the football calendar, allowing them to indulge in their passion for a full week.
Before the festivities kick off, an official weigh-in is conducted, ensuring that each player meets the weight requirements for their division. Once the weigh-in process is complete, the carnival officially commences, setting the stage for thrilling matches and memorable moments.
We are proud to have Mark Tombs and Craige McKenna as coaches for the U35s and U43s teams respectively. They have dedicated an impressive two decades to coaching with the Wynnum club. Their commitment and effort in nurturing these young talents is inspiring, providing each player with valuable coaching and the motivation to perform at their best.
The camaraderie and team spirit fostered during the carnival will leave an indelible mark on these kids. They will treasure the unforgettable memories and friendships formed throughout this event.
We invite the community to warmly welcome our guests to join us in supporting these teams. Come witness the excitement first-hand as we celebrate grassroots football at its finest!
